Painful Worship in Church Music Wars
QUESTION RECEIVED:

Our worship team plays the music at a very high decibel due to which I use ear plugs. Our Pastor explains that when we get to heaven there will be millions of Angels who will be constantly praising God Almighty and the decibel level will be far greater then at our church. Your thoughts on this please

***This question was received from another country and not one of our great Hall County Churches.

MY ANSWER:

Worship styles can be divisive to the church body. From your question worship music it seems can cause pain in your church member's physical body also. I know of no where in Scripture that worship has to be painful to your physical body. Zingy quips by the pastor will not keep your ears from hurting and bleeding. And I do not see Heavenly music as being painful in Scripture.
Worship is meant to give glory to God. We want it to help us touch the Lord and hear from Him. It often drops to our cultural norms.
Be kind but truthful. Please be clear to the pastor and musicians.
Worship should not be painful.
This should not be complicated for any musicians to understand this. I like a variety of hymns, gospel music and contemporary. I find it hard to relate to any music in church if I can not hear the words due to the amplification. You are a part of worship. In a respectful way communicate your concerns.

TRUE WORSHIP ACCORDING TO JESUS

John 4:19-26
English Standard Version (ESV)
19The woman said to him, "Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship." 21Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." 25The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things." 26Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am he."
