Dear Preacher, Politic or Gospel Preaching Sunday?

Dear Preacher,

As you know it is very hot outside and I am sure there are many sermon illustrations you have used for heat and your message.
Today as we consider attending church tomorrow I want to ask you is what are your preaching on this year on the Sunday before the 4th of July?
Are you preaching politics or the gospel?
I can get all the politics I want on FOX, CNN and MSNBC.
I noticed they have politics covered but none of those networks are sponsoring a gospel message that promotes Jesus Christ and Him crucified as the only hope for a world lost in sin.
We understand that is what the church offers, usually.
What are you offering the world in church?
So if its going to be politics we can all sleep in since the news agencies have political messages covered.
Are you offering us anything that can change our destinies eternally?
Sometimes preachers are skipping the gospel in place of politics at this time of year.
We can get all the politics we want on TV and talk radio and the internet and catch our rest.
Do you have politics and the gospel confused with each other?
Sunday who or what are we worshiping?
Can you give us a reason to attend worship services?
What will you preach on this Sunday?
Will it be your Politics or the Gospel?

Sincerely,

A Lost and Dying World

QUESTION RECEIVED:

Can a person preach and baptize without getting a degree from bible school?

MY ANSWER:

Yes, all the Disciples, Apostles and and John the Baptist meet the description of not being Bible school or even seminary graduates. Some of the most noted pastors like Charles Haddon Spurgeon(19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) had no degrees from any institution of Christian education. Spurgeon, the Prince of Preachers, was a tremendous pastor/ preacher to thousands in London. Spurgeon's sermon were published in newspapers through out the world. One thing all these people had was

Spooked By The Holy Ghost - His Name Is Not "It"

QUESTION RECEIVED:

I have a friend who says the Holy Spirit is referred to as a person not "it". What about Romans 8:15-15 where "it" is used?

My ANSWER:

Solid orthodox Christianity refers to the Holy Spirit as being apart of the Godhead, Host or Trinity. In the 1611 King James version which used the Roman Catholic Vulgate "itself" was used. But the Holy Spirit was still being referred to as
part of the Trinity.
In Romans 8:15-16 KJV 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again

He Is Still Lord over Atheist and Evangelicals and The Mainline Church

He Is Still Lord over Atheist and Evangelicals and The Mainline Church

These past few weeks I have read three disturbing reports concerning how humans relate to God.

Report #1 –  The national media told of a female clergy person, who lost her belief in God and the Bible.  There is a good case made from her story she never had either.  She did not see it as a problem getting funds from churches supporting the Christian College she was educated from.  Her character never challenged her to pay the money back for scholarships she disingenuously used.  She did not see the ethical dilemma of being paid from the Lord’s tithes by the Christians of the congregation she was supposed to be leading in the worship of God, discipleship and lead in evangelism while she believed in none of it.  When she was found out after elsewhere declaring her allegiance to atheistic beliefs she was forced to give up

Salvation Arguments - be for the home team

QUESTION RECEIVED:

In my view of soteriology (salvation) I am a Calvinist.
I believe regeneration comes before faith.
Is regeneration always a simultaneous when faith is applied?
Does regeneration come a long time before faith in Christ?
How long can you stay regenerate before coming to Christ?

MY ANSWER:

Thanks for the easy to answer non–controversial question ;)
As you stated almost all Calvinist would say that regeneration comes before faith.
What all born agree believers can do is look and marvel and pray for wisdom in growing to understand more about the conversion, new-birth, the new –creation in Christ we become when

Huge Church Scandal

QUESTION RECEIVED:
What is the biggest scandal in the church today; pedophile priests, youth workers messing with kids, mega-church financial scammers, or adulterous pastors?  There seems to be some scandal in the news every day.

MY ANSWER:
All of those horrible examples bring shame on the church.
There is a scandal that is worse.
Mothers and fathers are guilty.
Pastors and youth ministers are often involved.
The worst scandal ruins the lives of many people eternally.
This scandal is rampant in liberal, conservative, liturgical

Question Answered- So What Is God's Word? Jewish Scripture or Our Christian Translation?

QUESTION RECEIVED:

So what is God's word, the Jewish scripture or our Christian faulty translation ?

 MY ANSWER:

Here is your problem.
It is a big problem.

“So what is God's word, the Jewish scripture or our Christian faulty translation?”

There is one Scripture of God written.
It is the 66 books with 40 authors written over 1,500 years.
The Bible was written as God’s plan for salvation for His people not people’s.
The Bible, all 66 books, IS then A CHRISTIAN BOOK!

And yes most of the authors of the 66 books, under the inspiration and perfect guidance of the Holy Spirit,
were written by Jewish

Question about Biblical Foods and What Can I Eat?

QUESTION RECEIVED:

What does the Bible say we should eat?
And it does say which animals are clean and unclean to eat in the 613 mitzvot (ancient Jewish rabbinical commandments).
Acts 10:15 said that God made all animals clean.
I heard that God was saying that this is about gentiles being His people also and not eating these foods.
And that when God said do not call anything impure that God had made clean.
I think God wasn't talking about food He was talking about Cornelius, a gentile.
I just think if it were the case that meant all animals were clean then we could eat snakes, rats, vultures, scorpions, monkeys, and whatever else.
Which I think is obviously not okay.
Does really mean that all animals are clean?
I'm not too sure about that.
Are we still to obey the old laws?
MY ANSWER:

You are missing something in your diet – Liberty.
Do not join the “back to Egypt party”.
Christians are under grace not

Are We Robots or Do We Have Free Will To Serve God?

QUESTION  RECEIVED:

It doesn`t seem like we have a lot of free will. Is this `just` God worth following?

MY ANSWER:
People have free will on this earth.  This free will is limited to their abilities.  You can run-only so fast.  You cannot physically fly without a mechanical device.  You can choose to eat what you are offered or have the opportunity to eat.  You can choose to behave how you want if you can accept the consequences.  These consequences usually come from men.  Scripture says we have a sin

Longstreet Café Drink Cups and Your Eternal Destiny

Longstreet Café Drink Cups and Your Eternal Destiny

After eating a great summer lunch last week at the well known Longstreet Café in Gainesville (meatloaf, mashed potatoes, white gravy, slaw, big biscuit and chocolate cake pudding if you must know), my nephew Claxton said it was cool that the Ten Commandments were printed on the restaurant’s big Styrofoam to-go cups during our family outing.

After a way to big lunch we all talked about it.
Why should the Ten Commandments be seen anywhere?
Politicians go nuts about posting or not posting The Ten Commandments in our local court houses.
Why?
They seem appropriate and are our moral code right?
We are told in school that The Ten
