He Is Still Lord over Atheist and Evangelicals and The Mainline Church

He Is Still Lord over Atheist and Evangelicals and The Mainline Church

These past few weeks I have read three disturbing reports concerning how humans relate to God.

Report #1 –  The national media told of a female clergy person, who lost her belief in God and the Bible.  There is a good case made from her story she never had either.  She did not see it as a problem getting funds from churches supporting the Christian College she was educated from.  Her character never challenged her to pay the money back for scholarships she disingenuously used.  She did not see the ethical dilemma of being paid from the Lord’s tithes by the Christians of the congregation she was supposed to be leading in the worship of God, discipleship and lead in evangelism while she believed in none of it.  When she was found out after elsewhere declaring her allegiance to atheistic beliefs she was forced to give up her position of pastor of the church she was supposedly serving.   This is according to the Clergy Project, an organization for former “Christian“ministers that are atheist.  Some of these atheists in secret are currently serving as ministers and are still now “serving” congregations.  This is according to The Clergy Project  which claims about 250 plus atheist clergy on their website http://clergyproject.org/.
These atheist intellectuals have a big simple problem.  They have broken the first commandment.
They have other gods - themselves.  Self service is their theology.
Human self-interest ahead of the Lord’s prevailed.

Report#2-  Southern Baptist did not hear the Master’s command that “but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant.”  This largest group of protestant evangelical Christians in America decided it would be best to argue about specific parts of accepted orthodox Christian beliefs of salvation that have some variance in interpretation than to focus on supporting missionaries, evangelism or planting churches, you know their purpose.  Instead of a couple of weeks being about the Great Commission they were about great documents, great statements and great political positioning.  Folks think that though these opinions have been around since 1865 harmony seems wrong now.
A Bible professing group is not looking to the wisdom of Scripture.
Human self-interest ahead of the Lord’s prevailed.

Report#3- The General Conference of The United Methodist church meets every four years.
In May homosexuality and allowing gay pastors to serve was an issue.
From The Washington Post
“Leading up to General Conference, which convenes every four years, gay advocates had argued that momentum favored their cause. About 1,200 United Methodists clergy have agreed to break church rules and marry same-sex couples, surveys show young Christians favor expanding gay rights and other mainline Protestant denominations have adopted gay-friendly policies in recent years.”  Language affirming homosexuality lost in a vote 61% to 39%.”  Human popularity and not revelation from Scripture is way too dominant.
Again – Human self-interest ahead of the Lord’ prevailed.

Why could not the former clergy, evangelical Baptist and the mainline church not understand  we serve man not humanity.  Live like you trust Him.

                     Numbers 23:19 (NASB)
"19 “God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent;
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?"

The Bible clearly let’s us know the character and trustworthiness of God.

                     Exodus 34:6-7 (NASB)
“6 Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; 7 who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.”

The Lord can save the worst situation of the atheist, evangelical or mainliner.

                     Isaiah 59:1 (NASB)
“9 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short
That it cannot save;
Nor is His ear so dull
That it cannot hear.”

We know the Lord fully through fellowship with his Son.

1 Corinthians 1:9 (NASB)
“9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”

We are called by the Holy Spirit, when we repent we are redeemed.
We in the church are then apart of The Kingom.

Hebrew 12:28-29 (NASB)
“28 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; 29 for our God is a consuming fire.”
