Cults versus The Gospel (World Mission Society Church Of God)
Question Received

Hello, My son-in-law belongs to a church call WORLD MISSION SOCIETY CHURCH OF GOD Who they believe in God the Father and God the heavenly mother. Could someone please visit this site http://usa.watv.org/. My son-in-law was born christian and all of his family our christians. He went to korea because that is where heavenly mother is at and to receive the living water where it is freely given by her. This heavenly mother is God and that new jerusalem is korea..something in the book of revelations that says of the Spirit and Bride and he is really hooked to this church. Instead of closing with 'In the name of Jesus' they say 'In the name of someone korean man who founded the church....please help! This is insane, he game me literatures to read and my stomach turned as how this church can twist the truth but quoting all bible scriptures. He is confused but still insisting that this is the true church.

My Answer-

Yes, your son-in-law is in a full blown cult. I challenge anyone to dispute this from World Mission Society Church of God website, their website. http://usa.watv.org/is
This IS NOT the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana (Weslyean/Holiness background) or Church of God Cleveland,Tennessee or the Church of God of Prophecy (both evangelical American Pentecostal denominations). These are respected denominations who should never be compared to this Korean cult.

What is a cult? A cult pretends or masquerades to be a Christian church. They distort and isolate Christian Scripture. A cult declares itself as the only true church, the only way to God by actions that they alone control. They sell that they controll salvation and works of God. They control discussion, Bible interpretation, actions of daily life and who you can be associated with. They control sleeping, eating and personal communication. They prey on people hungry for a family that are lonely and are worried about their soul. Poverty, wealth, and the education level of an individual have never been barriers to the brain washing of cults.

Your son-in-law may have been born into a family that practices Christianity. As you should know, everyone comes to faith in Jesus Christ on their own by the merits of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ died to pay the penalty of our sins and the Lord credited this as His Law being fulfilled through the substitutionary atonement. God then declares us righteous through the life of Jesus Christ. We receive grace when we repent and turn to this gospel.
The cults distort and counterfeit this work of salvation from God.

You said that he went to Korea to be near heavenly Mother. Again, they have taken Bible verses, isolated them and have given false definitions. They immediately use Bible verses thn distort the nature and character of God. They define Eloheim as meaning "gods". This is valid, but the Trinity is what it means as the Father,Son and Holy Ghost are God. We do not have a bunch of gods no one has heard of. Christianity has one God in the Father, God The Son and God the Holy Spirit. This is the Trinity. The Bride in Revelation is the church made up of all saved or born again believers. The "Body of Christ" is the whole of born again of redeemed people. It is not some made up "heavenly mother". This is blasphemy that took a verse of the Bible and quickly went to false teaching about holy things. The lie of cults can then say, look at this verse. The verse is true. They isolate and change the meaning to fool converts. This is demonic behavior to twist or distort the truth of God.

So what do you need to know to combat this evil cult? You do not need to know all about their belief system. They will just add new lies and run you through "rabbit holes".
You need to know the gospel and present it your son-in-law, pray and trust God as you keep praying. Get him on every prayer list you can. This is important. Only God can save. Be obedient and turn this over to the one true God who made atonement for our sins by God The Son Jesus Christ, who convicts by God the Holy Spirit. Pray for wisdom and patience and pray with out ceasing on this matter. I will be in prayer that this man comes to when called to receive saving grace.

Pray that God will open the eyes of this man.
2 Corinthians 4:4 ESV
"4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."

John 3:16 ESV
For God So Loved the World
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 16:7–11 ESV
7 Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. 8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; 10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; 11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

Go to the Lord. Challenge your son-in-law to talk to God directly
James 1:5 ESV
"5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him."

Continually and lovingly point to the way of salvation.
Romans 10:9–10 ESV
"9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."

Always have an answer so pray with others and study and be ready to share in love.
1 Peter 3:15 ESV
"15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,"
