Idols of our Minds

To see many Christians crawfish (backup) on certain biblical beliefs ask them if they believe in an actual and historical Adam, Noah, Moses, or Jonah.  You often can then step back and watch a mental banana split happen close up.  “Well it does not matter…, it’s the meaning…, it’s a faith story…, science …, in those times…, maybe sorta.”  I think another banana split is happening in their mind as the defense of biblical and gospel integrity is pulling against the defense of their most cherished idol. Their great idol has a little nymph  – their point of view which proceeds from their mega idol - their mind.   Many once great churches and seminaries have put in the museum the terms INERRANCY and INFALLIBILITY. And in their duty spot where these terms were once seated were left inadequate and misleading definitions of old pillars of the faith.  So we have people of the church who give up belief in Scripture over not being perceived as having a modern mind.
INERRANCY means simply in the original autographs that the message
was true without error as it was delivered to the Prophets and the Apostles.  In the copying and cross translating into hundreds of languages translators have confused small phrases but with the intent of the Almighty still coming through the centuries.  The opponents of Scripture (they often do not view themselves as such often as they think their idol mind has triumphed over God’s Word) think it is riddled with human will and intent despite the Bible being one of the most historically intact ancient works of today.  The opponents of INERRANCY often wrongly cast anyone with that view of being “KJV translations only” and incapable of critical thought. No credible Bible  has ever claimed everything concerning God was in the Bible. They do claim it is all you can know.
INFALLIBILITY simply means the mind of God, and the Word of God always has and always will be infallible. If the Lord had not stopped the canon of Scripture at Revelation any further books of the Bible would be infallible. His Word can never make a mistake or lie.  Opponents of those who revere God’s Word as truth love the flat earth story.  Now try and research a credible church figure or theologian who ever stated the earth was flat.  If they did they did not study Scripture.
Isaiah 40:21-22New American Standard Bible (NASB)
21 Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been declared to you from the beginning?  Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? 22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.
Yes, the biblical writers used figures of speech like describing the “four corners of the world” like in Revelation 7:1.  I have also heard a science teacher talking about the sun rising in the morning. I did not gasp and declare he violated natural law and accuse them of not knowing the earth revolved around the sun.  We clearly have a society and a worse church culture that does not revere the Word of God.  But we are certain of our ideas.
All theories of Science have been changed.  Their fundamental stances on facts and theories were often assumed to be law. (very unscientific) Many often refuse to believe that the Creator gave them a mind to think critically about everything but themselves.  The Word of God in its essence has never changed.  How ones views of it changes.
Some bad scientist once did believe the sun revolved around the earth. Don’t be a bad theologian and not believe in the INERRANCY and INFALLIBILITY of God’s Word.
We have a head of the church and he reveres the Scripture He wrote as truth.
Did Jesus believe in creation? Mark 13:19 “19 For those days will be a time of tribulation such as has not occurred since the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never will..” ***
 Did Jesus believe in Noah? Luke 17: 26 And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: 27 they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. ***
 Did Jesus believe in Jonah? Matthew 12:40 for just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the sea monster, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.                                   Did Jesus believe in Moses? John 3:14 As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;
