Sin - The Reality and The Solution

QUESTION RECEIVED:

Could you please explain the meaning of this statement "The God of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not.” We are all under the spell, more or less, of a huge illusion. The evil, disease, sickness and other imperfections that we see and experience, have no reality, in reality, but have an existence in unreality.

MY ANSWER:

Here is the Scripture you are referring to in a close to "word for word" literal translation.

2 Corinthians 4:4
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."

The "god of this world" is Satan, the Devil, Lucifer, the thief, murderer, the evil one as stated in the Bible.

What does the Bible say about "the god of this world"?

John 10:7-10 (NASB) "7 So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly."
Christ knew Satan when he was an angel of light before he betrayed God.

Christ knew Satan when he was an angel of light before he betrayed God.
What did Jesus Christ say about his personal experience with "the god of this world"?

Luke 10:18 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"18 And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning."

In the fuller passage Jesus expands in Scripture about His sheep and those who follow "the thief".

John 10:7-10
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"7 So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.

What did Jesus say about what the devil and what he does to those who follow him?

John 8:44 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"44 You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

So what does the Bible, God's inerrant Word, say about the Devil and sin?
Their is a Devil. he is real. Sin is real and it kills.

What does Jesus Christ say through His Word?
Their is a Devil. He is real. Sin is real and it kills.

So evil, disease, sickness and other imperfections are imperfections are real, they are reality and yes we experience and suffer from them because of sin. Sin is real and it kills.

We can try to keep God's moral law but we cannot. We are sinners and the evil one has led humanity into a fallen world of sin and and damnation.

2 Corinthians 3:6 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"6 who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life."

Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, He is God's only Son. He is God in the flesh. he died on the Christ to receive the wrath of God intended for sinners like me. We sinners must repent and trust and believe in Jesus Christ our Lord. We then receive forgiveness of sins, peace with god and eternal life in Heaven with the Father.
That is the action of a real savior dealing with our real problem that dooms
us-SIN.

Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, a real Savior who is the solution to our real problem.
