Who Is The Enemy Of Christ?

QUESTION RECEIVED:
As Christians are we to hate the evil doer as well as the evil? Is there scripture for this position?

MY ANSWER:

NO!!! We love Christ so much we would never scoff at His work on the cross to save our souls and other sinners from Hell by our own arrogant hate. Our only true response to show our love for Christ and His creation is to witness and evangelize to those He created and loved and died to redeem.

Sinners are not to be hated but concerned for. Why? They are in agony, separated from God, unforgiven and headed to an eternity in Hell.

Ephesians 6:12 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."

So we hate the evil one, and evilness and sin, but not the people God created in His image.

Sin kills us. God hates the "evil one" who is a murderer. Why is there a Hell? Here is the Bible's answer.

Matthew 25:41 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"41 “Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels;"

Christ died so no one would have to go to Hell.
2 Peter 3:9 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance."

God is ultimate love expressed by the death of Jesus Christ on the cross to redeem sinners.

1 John 4:8-9 (NASB)
"8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him."

Christ died in our place. He became our sin on the cross. He took the wrath of God intended for the us. The redeemed, those who repented from their sins and turned to Christ, receive forgiveness of sins, peace with God and citizenship in Heaven with God.
We are saved by grace not our good deeds. We can never be good enough to overcome our sins of commission and omission.

Ephesians 2:8-9 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."

Yes at one time the saved were enemies of Christ.
It was a one way relationship. We hated Him. Yet He loved us, died for us and redeemed us anyway.
Colossians 1:21
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"21 And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds,"

This is why we worship the Risen Lord, our Lamb of God for eternity.

In Heaven worship is going on now and forever with this refrain-
Revelation 5:12 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"12 saying with a loud voice,
“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing.”
