Christmas Time> The First Army Ranger Paratrooper Air Assault

At Christmas time it often seems those who do not understand or believe in Christ seem to be have the biggest voice in the Christmas season about the purpose of Christmas (The Incarnation) and the purpose or mission of Christ.

Wading through Hallmark Channel Christmas movies, TV specials and commercials Christmas must be here to celebrate each other like Rare Earth in the 1970’s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLwkT5vAzCE  or praise each other like that groovy Fat Boy Slim video from the 1990’s  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruAi4VBoBSM

Scripture reads that Christmastime was purely an air assault against an evil controlled
Earth to destroy sin, death hell and the grave while liberating and saving the captives (Us).
Sin held humanity hostage.
The Father ordered the first assault foretold long ago.
The Scriptures predicted the air strike.
Christ confirmed this in His teaching.
Luke 24:27New King James Version (NKJV)
27 And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
Even the Magi knew from studying Scripture the King was coming.

Like Army Ranger paratroopers the angels “hit the beach” in the fields of Bethlehem.
Luke 2
8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
14 “Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Should the shepherds  have been afraid?  YES!!!
They saw not a bunch of flying baby cherubs in dresses with cute wings like in our commercials (and unfortunately in our church art) - they saw biblical angels.
They glimpsed the deadliest fighting force ever seen by men then or now.
Protectors of Christ.
These shepherd boys saw thousands of flying life takers.
These Jewish shepherds had heard the Old Testament Scriptures and accounts of angels slaying tens of thousands at one time.
Should they have been afraid?  Yes, very afraid.
No Hallmark and American TV they were not even singing.
They were protecting the now coming King against death, and all forces against God – literally anti-Christ forces.  Forces so evil that Herod, a Jew with a mind captured by evil, slaughtered thousands of Jewish boys two years and younger to wipe what he saw as a threat-a baby!
The shepherds were informed of the completed mission by the angels.
Luke 2:11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
This was only the start of the mission.
No singing angels here.
Just a military operation completed by warrior angels.
The baby King would later complete the mission.
Approximately 33 years later the complete liberation operation was completed and victory was declared by Christ on the cross when He said “It is finished.”
The sinless Christ, The grown up man/God naked as when He was born, defeated death, hell and the grave by His saving work on the cross.    This baby King paid our sin debt
for those who would repent of their sins and confess Him as Lord and Savior.
He walked out of His tomb three days after tasting death for us and showing all His victory.
I pray you stayed around to read the rest of the story.
This is not the ramblings of a fundamentalist graceless preacher.
This is the truest love that can be understood.
This is the reason we celebrate in Christ.

John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
