Demon Dreams?

QUESTION RECEIVED:

My son keeps dreaming about a white demon with four legs that makes a screaming sound whilst shaking its head to and Fro. We are born again Christians, and my son has the gift of discernment. He has been sick for a month now and the doctors cannot find out what is wrong with him other than to call it Yuppy Flu. He is 12 years old.I have prayed over his room and done any necessary "cleaning out" of bad books and games that could be causing this. What should i do and what is he actually seeing?

MY ANSWER:

I am glad you are "born again". A person can really only speak for their own salvation.
Your child has to be born again by his experience. You cannot declare that for him. It would be his experience.

John 3:7

"7 Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ "

Dreams can be frightening. Demons cannot posses or invade the mind of a believer. A demon can influence the world we live in though.
There is no biblical record of a demon causing a bad dream to my knowledge.

At age twelve your son is in what we call the middle school years in America.
Many children at that age are ready for puberty and other life changes. The changing times in their lives causes much emotional disturbance.

It is great your son considers spiritual things.
Is he really of "full age" as Hebrews 15:13-14 says to discern biblical truth?
Even Jesus was not given a position of authority at that age.
The Bible says discernment is for those of full age.

Hebrews 5:13-14
"13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."

Friend, again council your son in that he knows and understands that Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, is the Son of God, He paid for our sins on the cross, and we must repent and turn from the world and sin and accept Christ as Savior to be saved. This will give all who do this salvation, peace with God and citizenship in Heaven.

His illness might be from a disease of the body or from emotions deep inside a child.
Trust the Lord. Do not let someone talk you into having an extra-biblical super problem because of only a dream. Trust God's word to find the problem not some ritualistic way devised by well meaning men. Trust the Lord for salvation. He will see you two through this vexing dream he is having.
