Question > Why Go To Church?

QUESTION RECEIVED:

 I always hear Christians should go to church.  I always find error from Catholic to Seventh Day Adventist churches. There are many churches and I cannot find one we like.  What should we do?

MY ANSWER:

Yes you might be a Christian.  You are not THE Christian.  As a Christian you have a King named Jesus Christ.  Jesus and His word says go to church.

In the moral law, better known as the Ten Commandments, it says worship on the Sabbath.  To observe the resurrection most Christians have their main worship on Sunday as the New Testament church adapted to this practice.  

Exodus 20:8 (NKJV) “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.”

Go to church!

Jesus had a custom to go to church.  Follow Jesus in this practice.

Luke 4:16 (NKJV) “So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.”

Do you want to find a tough worship community?  Some of the people in the congregation wanted to kill our Savior that day in His hometown synagogue.  He is God in the flesh and went anyway.

So why did Jesus still go to church?  To worship His Father.  He must think it is of great importance.  

Go to church!

The early church saw church attendance as a joy, pleasure, discipline and duty.

Go to church!

Hebrews 10:25 “ not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Christ loves His bride-the church.  He died for her.

Do you love Christ!

He died a sinless man and was punished for your sin.

You receive pardon when you repent and believe.

You are no longer a child of the devil but you become a child of God.
If you live in America I do not think you can claim you cannot find a church that believes Jesus is Lord and our Savior in your tradition.  If not start a church of like minded believers.
