Two problems with evangelism are-
1) We are scared to do it.
Why?
We believe in our head and not our heart.
Our hearts will doubt and ask will it really work?
2) People do not know what they are being asked to be converted and or why.
The lost are confused on what they are being asked to do.
1 Corinthians 14:8 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"8 For if the bugle produces an indistinct sound, who will prepare himself for battle?"
ABOUT BEING SCARED TO WITNESS
We are scared to do it.
We might fail.
Yes we will fail in speech, logic and technique.
Do not fail in obedience.
We are commanded to do it.
God can worry about the sinners hair, tattoos or politics later.
You worry about sharing the gospel.
Matthew 28:18-20 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
The "Rich Young Ruler" was witnessed to by Jesus.
The man refused Jesus to His face.
Mark 10:22 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"22 But at these words he was saddened, and he went away grieving, for he was one who owned much property."
The gospel works according to God's plan.
He is in charge of success.
Isaiah 55:11 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it."
So be bold and confident.
Success is not on you.
The success of the gospel relies on the LORD of the gospel.
Follow the advise of William Booth the founder of the Salvation Army.
"Go for souls. Go straight for souls, and go for the worst."
Isaiah 59:1 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"1 Behold, the LORD’S hand is not so short
That it cannot save;
Nor is His ear so dull
That it cannot hear."
ABOUT BLOWING THE CLEAR BUGLE IN EVANGELISM
Know how to speak the gospel.
But what is the gospel?
The gospel is simply through the perfect life death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ we are saved.
You can not share what you do not know.
To prepare to witness first people must know the bad news.
They are sinners.
That should not be hard to understand.
If they are humbled they know their shortcomings.
If they do not know run them through the ten commandments.
Why?
The law shows us our need for salvation.
Galatians 3:24 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"24 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith."
The law is needed in evangelism.
Why?
Psalm 19:7 (NASB)
"7 The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul;
The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple."
Does the law save?
NO
It points to our need for the Savior.
God's law is perfect and must be upheld.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10(NASB)
"9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God."
The humble will be open to salvation. (SEE Zacheus in Luke 19:1-10.)
The arrogant will walk, even on Jesus. (See the rich young man in Mark 10:17-27.)
The convicted will want to hear.
Jesus kept the perfect law with his perfect life.
We can not keep the law, no one can.
Romans 5:10 "For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life."
His perfect life allowed Him, Jesus, to be the perfect sacrifice to pay for sins.
He took our punishment.
He took the wrath of God intended for sinners on the cross.
We receive forgiveness, peace with god and citizenship in Heaven.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (NASB)
21 "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
Does salvation depend on your smoothness?
Your charm?
Your wit?
NO!
Salvation depends on the gospel message heard.
Salvation depends on Christ Alone.
Relax.
Share the gospel.
Trust the gospel to save as it always has and always will.
Christians trust the gospel to work.
Trust your Savior for the gospel to work.
