This is the Mom's message from the Caring Bridges from Emory/Egleston Children's Hospital. Last year our Christmas party and others supported this 5 year old young boy's family. Let's do it again.
David was diagnosed with LCH (LANGERHAN'S CELL HISTIOCYTOSIS) on 9/10/2008. on 10/11/2010 we were told Davids LCH has spread to his GI tract and will now be on chemo for 6 months to a year.As of April 15, 2011 David WAS in remission!
He recently relapsed this past August and will undergo another year of chemo.
Thank you all for your continued support and prayers

Background Story
David developed a strange rash in April 08. after repeated doctor visits, lab work, and ridiculous diagnoses, a biopsy was done in Aug 08. and it was determined that our little boy had LANGERHANS CELL HISTIOCYTOSIS.
Langerhans cell histiocytosis is a rare disorder that occurs when there are too many of a type of white blood cell called a Langerhans cell (named for a German scientist). These cells normally reside in the skin and help fight infections and destroy certain foreign substances in the body. In LCH, these cells accumulate on bones and other parts of the body, particularly the head and neck, causing a wide range of problems. LCH can also be found in the ribs, sternum, long bones of the arms and legs, vertebra of the spine, and the pelvis. Although LCH can occur in people of all ages, a majority of cases occur in children under 10 years old.
Since we moved back to Ga David has gotten worse and we made a trip to Texas children's hospital to be evaluated by Dr. McClain , one of the leading doctors and researchers for LCH. on Oct. 11th David was Diagnosed with LCH in his GI tract.
David went through 6 months of hard chemo before being declared in remission on March 15,2011.
on Sept. 9,2011 we were officially told David had relapsed and we had to start chemo immediately. and will need to undergo this treatment plan for a full year. we are praying for a complete remission when this year is over.
thank you all for your continued support and prayers!-
